1 This calculation was based on the effluents of the anaerobic digester. The cow manure deposited at nighttime (15 kg per cow) is collected and mixed with 1 kg of manure: 1.5 of water, to put it inside the anaerobic digester, the anaerobic digestion and the production of biofuel and effluents used for fertigation and the improvement of the soil and crops. (7.5 kg of effluents equal 1 kg of fertilizer (Suárez et al., 2012). QUIMIMPORT pays $650 USD for one ton of fertilizer 1USD = 1CUC7 = 25.00 CUP.

2 This value is calculated following the daily biofuel production in the Finca del Medio, 6 m3 and 11 cows that, on average, deposit the manure at night time that is then collected the next day to feed the anaerobic digestor.

3 60% of 1 m3 of biofuel is equivalent to methane (Cepero et al., 2012).

4 40% of 1 m3 of biofuel is equivalent to CO2 (Cepero et al., 2012).
