The Public and Private History of Eugenics: An Introduction

CHLOE S. BURKE teaches American cultural history at California State University, Sacramento, where she is assistant professor of history and director of the Center for Science, History, Policy and Ethics. Her research explores the intersections between discourses of dissent and disease in American political cartooning of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era.

CHRIS CASTANEDA is professor of history and chair of the History Department at California State University, Sacramento. He is also co-director of the joint UCSB-CSUS Ph.D. Program in Public History. He has written several books and articles on topics related to regulatory policy, business-government relations, and energy history.
