David J. Weber, eminent borderlands scholar, died on August 20, 2010. Six scholars formed a panel to pay tribute to him at the 125th Annual Meeting of the AHA in January 2011. Their remarks, printed here, form not only an account of Weber's impact on the borderlands field, the scholars in that field, and the individuals who knew him but also a means of reviewing that field of history and its flowering during, and in large part due to, his influence.
