ABSTRACT This essay is an attempt to identify and elaborate the inextricable mutual implications between mimesis and sacrifice in considerations of victimhood (understood as dominated or stigmatized existence), especially as found in prominent examples of contemporary cultural theory. The authors discussed include Giorgio Agamben, Luce Irigaray, Homi Bhabha, and René Girard.
