Ayelet Ben-Yishai teaches postcolonial and Victorian literature at the University of Haifa. A comparatist by training, she has written on realism and the novel, on the intersections of law and literature, and on the Indian novel in English. She is currently completing a manuscript titled Genres of Emergency on the literary and cultural history of the Indian Emergency. Her teaching, research, and way of being in the world often overlap, prompting her writing about the political and discursive problem of complicity.
