This issue marks transitions in a number of ways. For starters, this is the last issue we will be publishing with the University of California Press. We are grateful to the staff of UC Press for their patience with us. We are especially grateful to production editor Holly Irish for her time and counsel. Next year, we will move to a different press with an annual issue format. We hope you will continue to support the journal with your submissions and reviews.
In this issue, we also mark the earthly transitions of two giants in our field. Earlier this year, we lost Drs. Robert C. Smith (1947–2023) and David Covin (1940–2023).
