This issue is reflective of the arch of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists (NCOBPS) in which our first article is the presidential inaugural address of President Emmitt Riley. President Riley’s vision for NCOBPS is one that views the scholarship and activism of NCOBPS members as a catalyst to impact the discipline and provides solutions for the challenges African Americans currently face. President Riley’s dynamic vision is grounded in the core principles of NCOBPS as established by the organization’s founders.

As we reflect on the possibilities of NCOBPS’s future we find it fitting to provide a tribute to one of our visionary founders, Professor Emerita Dr. Mae C. King, who passed away on November 4, 2022.
