Welcome to the second issue of National Review of Black Politics, the journal of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists (NCOBPS). I am very honored to serve as guest editor. In this volume, the authors and I are continuing to commemorate our organization’s fiftieth anniversary. The authors have written innovative research articles that examine a diverse array of topics such as the carceral state, former president Barack Obama’s rhetoric on racial issues, the African American female presidents of NCOBPS, implications of the Kerner Commission’s “two nations thesis,” the attitudes of African Americans on foreign policy matters, the black queer feminist framework, and the white American response to the Black Lives Matter movement. This issue also includes reviews of books that examine various aspects of the black political experience.
