Joseph Phelan is a Professor in the Department of English at De Montfort University in Leicester. He is editor, with John Woolford and Daniel Karlin, of the Longman Annotated English Poets: The Poems of Browning (vols. 3–7, Routledge). Professor Phelan is also author of The Music of Verse: Metrical Experiment in Nineteenth-Century Poetry (Palgrave, 2012) and The Nineteenth-Century Sonnet (Palgrave, 2005).

Daniel S. Malachuk is a Professor of English at Western Illinois University. He is author, most recently, of Literature for a Society of Equals (Routledge, 2023), along with Two Cities: The Political Thought of American Transcendentalism (University Press of Kansas, 2016), and Perfection, the State, and Victorian Liberalism (Palgrave, 2005), and has published articles in various other venues, including The Blackwell Companion to George Eliot and Victorian Literature and Culture.
