Daniel Diez Couch is an Associate Professor of English at the United States Air Force Academy. He is the author of American Fragments: The Political Aesthetic of Unfinished Forms in the Early Republic (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2022) and editor, with Matthew Pethers, of The Part and the Whole in Early American Literature, Print Culture, and Art (forthcoming from Bucknell University Press). His work has also appeared in Arizona Quarterly: A Journal of American Literature, Culture, and Theory and other venues, and he is currently working on a book project on the history of literary character in America, 1776–1832.
