Caroline Gelmi, Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Communication at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, has published essays in Nineteenth-Century Literature (2014) and J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists (2020). Her essay “Vachel Lindsay and the Primitive Singing of the New Poetry” is forthcoming in Journal of Modern Literature, and in progress is a book-length study tentatively titled “Negative Image: Fictions of the Speaker in American Poetry and Poetics.”
