Elisha Cohn, Assistant Professor of English at Cornell University, is the author of Still Life: Suspended Development in the Victorian Novel (2016). She has published essays in such journals as Victorian Studies, Contemporary Literature, and elsewhere, and her essay “‘No insignificant creature’: Thomas Hardy’s Ethical Turn” appeared in Nineteenth-Century Literature in 2010. She is now at work on a book project on “Animal Lives in the English Novel.”
