David Murray is Emeritus Professor in American and Canadian Studies at the University of Nottingham. He is the author of Matter, Magic and Spirit: Representing Indian and African American Belief (2007), Indian Giving: Economies of Power in Early Indian-White Exchanges (2000), and Forked Tongues: Speech, Writing and Representation in North American Indian Texts (1992), as well as editor of American Cultural Critics (1995).
