We dedicate this issue to the memory of Jaime E. Rodríguez O. (1940–2022). A professor emeritus in history at the University of California at Irving (UCI) at the time of his passing, Jaime was the founder of MS/EM in 1985. At UCI, he was also the founding director of the Latin American studies program, now the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. His prolific scholarly record and publications, along with his numerous and fruitful institutional contributions, are a testament to his passion and dedication to the historical studies of the Latin American nineteenth-century Latin America. Over the past few months, his prolific career and contributions have been recognized in memoriam in several academic journals and institutional outlets.
