Carlos Monsiváis, in Collective and Personal Memory

Linda Egan specializes in twentieth-century fiction and nonfiction as well as Mexican poetry and colonial studies, particularly Sor Juana scholarship and the chronicle of the Indies. She has published a book on Sor Juana (1997), as well as Carlos Monsiváis: Culture and Chronicle in Contemporary Mexico (2001, translated to Spanish by the Fondo de Cultura Económica in 2004), and numerous articles on Mexican literature and culture. Her critical anthology, Mexico Reading the United States, came out last year(2009) with Vanderbilt University Press. Her book Monsivaisiana: aforismos de un pueblo que quiere ser ciudadano was published in 2010 with Martin Meidenbauer of Munich.
