Mónica Amor’s Gego: Weaving the Space in Between is the first comprehensive academic monograph on the German-Venezuelan modernist artist born Gertrud Goldschmidt, examining her entire body of work across various media and artforms. Amor has been studying Gego’s work since the mid 1990s, disseminating her findings through scholarly publications and exhibition catalogs. Several notable exhibitions have featured Gego’s work, including the recent retrospective at the Guggenheim Museums of New York and Bilbao. Amor contributed to the exhibition catalog Gego: Measuring Infinity (Guggenheim Museum Publications, 2023), alongside other experts in the field. Her chapter, “A Work Open to Error,” explores the importance of experimentation and trial-and-error processes in Gego’s practice and teaching methods.
