Andreas Margara’s book is a revised version of a doctoral thesis submitted to the University of the Armed Forces in Munich [Universität der Bundeswehr München] in 2021. It analyzes the development of relations between Vietnam and both the German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG, West Germany) since 1945. The book follows the chronology of events with a heavy emphasis on certain case studies that exemplify the dynamics of mutual relations.
