In the introduction to this special issue, the guest co-editors consider what co-op scholarship looks like and why it is important. The introduction starts with them playing a game of sorts, discussing their individual relationships to “co-op.” They then discuss the conference from which these articles are derived (including its intentionally inclusive understanding of “ludomusicology”), as well as offer brief synopses of each article and how it relates to co-op scholarship. They conclude with a reflection on the importance of collaboration and community in academia and in life.
