Despite popular opinion (or palaver as the case may be), feelings are not transhistorical phenomena, common to all people at all times. They emerge and evolve prompted by the constant reconfigurations of the infinite number of forces that shape affective life. New feelings, as a result, are useful distinguishing markers for understanding the complexion of these forces, their geometry, direction and power. The particular flavor of envy that architecture feels for certain types of media and their apparently greater currency and consequence, is one such feeling.
