Welcome to the first issue of the second volume of the Journal of Autoethnography. This short introductory essay will provide a look backward at where we went during the first year, and look forward to where we are going, as well as what we have learned and been surprised about along the way. It’s been an amazing first year. When we proposed and founded the Journal of Autoethnography, we didn’t know what the year would bring. We didn’t know that much of Australia and then much of the west coast of the United States would be on fire. We didn’t know that Brexit would actually happen. We did not know that Notre Dame Cathedral would burn down. Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as India and China, are in the midst of border tensions, conflicts, and skirmishes. We...
