The first Pope from South America is concluding his first papal visit to South America, affirming his commitment to serving the faithful everywhere, the everyperson at all stations of life. Millions, according to all media accounts, have gathered in Rio de Janeiro to experience the Pope, not so much to hear a homily addressed to them, rather to know that he moves among them. These millions spill from Rio's favelas to her streets, and they crowd the beaches that otherwise signify her secular appeal to the world. Pope Francis offers them a most uncommon commonness.
