Review: J. S. Bach: A Life in Music by Peter Williams
MATTHEW DIRST is Associate Professor of Music at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston, and the founder and Artistic Director of Ars Lyrica Houston. Winner of the 2004 William H. Scheide Prize from the American Bach Society, his work on the music of J. S. Bach and its reception appears in Early Music and Bach Perspectives, and includes a forthcoming book from Cambridge University Press entitled Bach as Idea: Strategies in the Reception of the Keyboard Works, 1750–1850.
