CHRISSY CAVIAR©© ("the world's most expensive luxury consumable item") is the creation of New York artist Chrissy Conant. Using IVF methods to increase egg production, she harvested some of her eggs and placed them in specially designed and labeled jars. She has displayed the results in a refrigerated deli case (along with blown up photos of the label featuring her picture) and registered a trademark to protect what she calls CHRISSY CAVIAR. Her piece raises interesting questions about what we eat, why we eat it and even wryly suggests the possibility of cannibalism. Documentation of her project can be found at
