Stephen Massimilla is a poet, critic, professor, and painter. His forthcoming (co-authored) book is on poetry and cooking with sustainable ingredients. His latest book, The Plague Doctor in His Hull-Shaped Hat, is a Stephen F. Austin University Press Prize selection. He has also received the Bordighera Poetry Prize for Forty Floors from Yesterday; the Grolier Prize for Later on Aiaia; a runner-up citation for the Salmon Run National Poetry Book Award, selected by X.J. Kennedy; a Van Rensselaer Award, selected by Kenneth Koch; and other awards. His work has appeared in hundreds of journals and anthologies. Massimilla holds an MFA and a PhD from Columbia University and teaches at Columbia and The New School.
