Isobel Grad grew up in Seattle, Washington, and is currently a graduate student in Material and Visual Anthropology at University College London, working on a dissertation about coffee culture. She received a Watson Fellowship in 2011 to travel and study the use of local food in Iceland, Madagascar, India, and Greece.
