jeannette ferrary is author of Out of the Kitchen: Adventures of a Food Writer; M.F.K. Fisher and Me; and six cookbooks. Her work has appeared in the New York Times and many other publications. A member of Les Dames d'Escoffier, she studied cooking in France with Julia Child and Simone Beck and teaches food writing courses at Stanford and Berkeley.
