Abstract
This article explores how 35 Shots of Rum (2009) marks a radical shift in Claire Denis's method both formally and thematically. Through a highly personal homage to Ozu that decisively ““corrects”” Late Spring (1949), Denis romances the figure of the Father in order to move beyond violence and fragmentation.
