Abstract
ABSTRACT Volker Schlööndorff for the first time directly approaches the subject of religious faith in portraying Henri Kremer, a Catholic priest imprisoned at Dachau. The director's meticulous style con-trasts Golgotha-like images of torture and deprivation with abstract ethical dialogues between the priest and a former seminarian turned mid-level Nazi leader.
