Waller: ““Robert Southard and the History of Traveling Film Exhibition.”” Focusing on the day-to-day practices of Robert Southard, a traveling showman who worked rural Kentucky and Arkansas during and after the Depression, this essay re-examines the history of itinerant film exhibition in the United States, particularly during the 1930s and 1940s.
