Scott MacDonald is the author of the Critical Cinema series of interviews with filmmakers (now in five volumes from UC Press) and nine other books, including most recently, Adventures of Perception: Cinema as Exploration (2009) and American Ethnographic Film and Personal Documentary: The Cambridge Turn (2013), both from UC Press. He teaches film history at Hamilton College.
