SCOTT MACDONALD is working on Avant-Doc, a collection of interviews with experimental documentary filmmakers. His most recent book, Adventures of Perception: Cinema as Exploration (University of California Press, 2009) includes essays on the intersections of African American film and avant-garde film, on nature filmmaking, on pornography; and interviews with Gina Kim, Clive Holden, Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou, Peter Hutton, James Benning, David Gatten, George Kuchar, and Karen Cooper. He teaches at Hamilton College and Harvard University.
