Monica Dall'Asta is an associate professor at the University of Bologna. She has widely published in Italian, English, and French on feminist film history, the history of European film theories, and early and classic film seriality. In 2008 she edited a new Italian translation of Alice Guy's memoirs (Memorie di una pioniera del cinema) and the first collection on women's filmmaking in Italian silent cinema (Non solo dive. Pioniere del cinema italiano). She coedits, with Jane M. Gaines and Radha Vatsal, the Women Film Pioneers Project.

Barbara Grespi is an associate professor in cinema studies at the University of Bergamo, Italy, where she coordinates a cinema research group called Balthazar and is on the scientific board of Punctum, an international project devoted to the study of visual culture. She has written on gesture in cinema, on cinema and memory, and on cinema and photography. Her recent publications include Memoria e Immagini (Mondadori, 2009), Cinema e montaggio (Carocci, 2010), Gus Van Sant (Marsilio, 2011), Fuori quadro (Aracne, 2013), and Bodies of Stone: Suspended Animations in the Media, Visual Culture and the Arts (coedited with Alessandra Violi, Andrea Pinotti, and Pietro Conte, Amsterdam University Press, forthcoming).

Sandra Lischi is a professor of cinema, photography, and television at the University of Pisa. Since 1985 she has run the Pisa Video Festival and the cultural event Ondavideo. Since 1990 she has been codirector of Invideo, an international exhibition of video art and experimental film and video in Milan. She has written many texts, articles, and books about video art, experimental and independent film and video, and nonfiction media. Her books include Metamorfosi della visione. Saggi di pensiero elettronico (with Rosanna Albertini, 1988; 2nd ed. 2000), Il respiro del tempo. Cinema e video di Robert Cahen (1992; new edition with DVD 2008), Cine ma video (1996), Visioni elettroniche. L'oltre del cinema e l'arte del video (2001), and Il linguaggio del video (2005).

Veronica Pravadelli is a professor of film studies at Roma Tre University, Rome, where she directs the Center for American Studies (CRISA). She has been a visiting professor at Brown University. She has written many books and articles on feminist film theory and women's cinema, Hollywood cinema, and Italian post-neorealist film. Her two most recent books are Le donne del cinema: dive, registe, spettatrici (Laterza, 2014) and Classic Hollywood: Lifestyles and Film Styles of American Cinema, 1930–1960 (University of Illinois Press, 2015).
