Ethnic Studies on its Fiftieth Anniversary: Roots, Challenges, and Critical Dialogues for the Future

Harvey Dong completed his BA in Economics and PhD in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley. His research and writing include the evolution of Asian American and Third World social movement activism on campus and in the Asian American community. He participated in the Asian American Political Alliance and the Third World Strike at UC Berkeley in 1968–69. He currently teaches Asian American Studies at UC Berkeley and was awarded the 2016 “American Cultures Ronald Takaki Teaching Award”; and in 2018, the Chancellor’s Public Scholar Faculty Fellowship.
