Special Feature: Accomplishments from the EXport Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing (EXPORTS) Field Campaign to the Northeast Pacific Ocean
This Elementa Special Feature collection will highlight accomplishments from the EXport Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing (EXPORTS) field campaign to the Northeast Pacific. The goal of EXPORTS field campaign is to develop a predictive understanding of the ocean’s biological carbon pump and its carbon cycle impacts via detailed observation and modeling of the dominant export pathways. In the fall of 2018, the EXPORTS Science Team completed its first field deployment to Station P in the Northeast Pacific using the R/Vs Roger Revelle and Sally Ride and a suite of robotic sampling platforms and in coordination with the Canadian Line P time series program. The range of approaches range from geochemistry to optical oceanography to molecular biology to biological and physical oceanography. This Elementa Special Feature collection will enable a unique synthesis of the functioning of the ocean's biological pump.
