Loss of Black Identity in Cyprus: Examining Arap Ali Saga through Decolonial Autoethnography

Umut Ozkaleli, PhD, is Associate Professor of Public and International Affairs at ADA University, where she teaches sociology, research methods, gender, race, and ethnicity in international relations, and public organizations. She earned her master’s degree from the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR) at George Mason University and PhD from the Social Science Department, Syracuse University-Maxwell School. Her publications are related to developing intersectional frameworks for equity in state institutions, gendered agency in democratization, gendered war memories, and transborder remaking of social interactions, everyday becoming of refugees, and their articulations of agency in the host country. Dr. Ozkaleli’s articles have appeared in academic journals such as International Feminist Journal of Politics, Women’s Studies International Forum, Journal of Women, Politics and Policy, Asian Journal of Women’s Studies, Social Change, Postcolonial Studies, and Ethnic and Racial Studies.
