Bruce Cumings is John Evans Professor of International History and Politics at Northwestern University, where he directs the Center for International and Comparative Studies. He is the author of The Origins of the Korean War, two volumes (Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1981 and 1990), War and Television (London: Verso, 1992), and Korea’s Place in the Sun: A Modem History (New York: Norton, 1995).
