Juan E. Corradi is a professor of sociology and associate dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at New York University. He also serves as vice president for institutional development and research of the South/North Development Initiative. His books include The Fitful Republic: Economy, Society, and Politics in Argentina (Boulder, Colo.: Westview Press, 1985), Fear at the Edge: State Terror and Resistance in Latin America (Berkeley: University of California Press, 1992), and the forth-coming Imaginary Mimicries: Buenos Aires and Paris, 1880-1930.
