Rashid Khalidi teaches Middle Eastern history at the University of Chicago, where he is director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. President of the Middle East Studies Association, he is the author of British Policy tow ards Syria an d Palestine, 1906-1914 (London: St. Anthony’s, 1980) and Under Siege: plo Decision m aking During the 1982 War (New York: Columbia University Press, 1986). He was an adviser to the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace talks from October 1991 to June 1993.
