Larry Diamond is a senior research fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and coeditor of the Journal of Democracy. He recently edited Political Culture and Democracy in Developing Countries and, with Ehud Sprinzak, Israeli Democracy under Stress (both Boulder, Colo.: Lynne Rienner, 1993), and also The Global Resurgence of Democracy and Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy, both with Marc F. Plattner (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 1992 and 1993).
