Steven E. Sanderson is a professor of political science and the director of the Tropical Conservation and Development Program at the University of Florida. Among his publications on Mexico are Agrarian Populism and the Mexican State (Berkeley: University of California Press, 1981) and The Transformation of Mexican Agriculture (Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1986). His most recent book is The Politics of Trade in Latin American Development (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1992).
