Selig S. Harrison, a senior associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, has specialized in South Asian affairs and American relations with South Asia as a journalist and scholar for 40 years. He is the coeditor, with K. Subrahmanyam, of Superpower Rivalry in the Indian Ocean: Indian and American Perspectives (New York: Oxford University Press, 1989) and the author of In Afghanistan’s Shadow: Baluch Nationalism and Soviet Temptations (Washington, D.C.: Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, 1981).
