Shahrough Akhavi is the editor of the Middle East series published by the State University of New York Press, and book review editor of Iranian Studies, the journal of the Society for Iranian Studies. He is the author of Religion and Politics in Contemporary Iran: Clergy-State Relations in the Pahlavi Period (Albany: State University of New York Press, 1980), and articles and essays on Egyptian and Iranian politics.
