Richard W. Hull has traveled extensively in Africa since 1961 under a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship and grants from the Kunstadter Family Foundation, the New York State Education Department and New York University. In March, 1985, he visited Zimbabwe again under a Kunstadter Fellowship. In 1974 and in 1979, he wrote, produced and narrated for CBS television two 47-part series, “African Civilizations” and “Southern Africa.” He is the author of many books on Africa, including Modern Africa: Change and Continuity (Englewood Clifts, N.J.: Prentice-Hall, 1980), Southern Africa: Civilizations in Turmoil (New York: New York University Press, 1981), and African Cities and Towns before the European Conquest (New York: Norton, 1976). He is a senior analyst on Africa for Frost and Sullivan, Inc., and he is the president of African Consulting Associates. He is also the author of the forthcoming book, Americans in Southern Africa since 1835.
