Riordan Roett is director of the Latin American Studies Program and the Center of Brazilian Studies at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He is the author of Brazil: Politics in a Patrimonial Society, 3d ed. (New York: Praeger, 1984); and he is coauthor and editor of Latin America, Western Europe and the US.: Reevaluating the Atlantic Triangle (New York: Praeger, 1985).
Scott D. Tollefson is the author of “Jamaica: The Limits of a Showcase Policy,” in SALS Review (Summer Fall, 1985), and coauthor, with Riordan Roett, of “Brazil’s Status as an Intermediate Power,” in the 1986 annual edition of Third World Affairs.
