William J. Duiker served with the United States Embassy in Saigon as a foreign service officer in 1964 and 1965. Among his recent publications are The Communist Road to Power in Vietnam (Boulder: Westview Press, 1981), and Vietnam; A Nation in Revolution (Boulder: Westview Press, 1983).
