Robert S. Leiken is the former director o f the Soviet–Latin America Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Georgetown University. He is the editor o f the Carnegie study, Central America: Anatomy of Conflict (New York: Pergamon Press, 1984) and author of Soviet Strategy in Latin America, Washington Paper No. 93 (New York: Praeger, 1982).
