Robert L. Hardgrave, Jr., has visited India five times for research since 1960. He is the author of The Nadars of Tamilnad (Berkeley: University of California Press, 1969); the third edition of his text, India: Government and Politics in a Developing Nation, will be published this fall by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich.
