Edward Taborsky was Czechoslovakia’s Ambassador to Sweden before his arrival in the United States in 1949. During World War II he served as personal aide to President Edvard Benes̑ of Czechoslovakia. He has taught at Charles University of Prague, the University of Stockholm, Ohio State University and the University of Tennessee, and is the author of nine books, including Communism in Czechoslovakia: 1948-1960 (Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1961) and Communist Penetration of the Third World (New York: Robert Speller and Sons, 1973). He is currently finishing a book on President Edvard Benes̑ between the East and the West, 1938-1948.
