Associate Professor of International Studies, University of Southern Florida Harvey W. Nelsen is the author of The Chinese Military System: An Organizational History of the People’s Liberation Army, 1966-76 (Boulder, Colo.: Westview Press, 1977), and has written several articles on the Chinese military. He was formerly an intelligence analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency, specializing in China’s political and military affairs.
