Harry Perry has spent most of his career with the Bureau of Mines. His last position was director of coal research, following which he spent three years as research adviser to the assistant secretary of mineral resources. After serving as a consultant to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris in 1970, he joined the Library of Congress as senior specialist on energy. He is the author of over 175 publications on energy and the environment.
